| After more than four decades of forestation, a green foundation has been established in Kinmen, which is beneficial to national security, wind and sand control, environment beautification and other purposes. Since November 7, 1992, when Kinmen government announced the termination of its administration on battlefield affairs and opened the county for tourism, construction in every industry was unfolded and imposed a heavy impact upon the ecological environment in Kinmen. In order to protect butterflies in Kinmen, Kinmen Forest Bureau investigated the species of local butterflies, and preliminary report indicates that there are approx. 70 species in 8 families of butterflies existing. Every May, July or October, which are the reproduction seasons for local butterflies, is the best time of the year to watch butterflies. |
